GOALTENDER BEN WEST COMMITS TO UNION COLLEGE
NAVAN, ON – The Navan Grads of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) are proud to announce that goaltender Ben West (’03) has committed to NCAA Division I Union College Dutchmen in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).

West, an 18-year-old from Barrie, Ontario is currently in his second season with the Navan Grads. In his rookie campaign, West excelled between the pipes in CCHL development scrimmages during the COVID-19 shortened season. West has elevated his game to another level in 2021-2022 and has registered a 6-2-0-0 record, 2.13 G.A.A. and 0.926% save percentage in the early stages of the regular season for the Grads. West was named Week 1 CCHL CCM Player of the Week on September 29th after recording back-to-back wins to open the season and stopping 67/69 shots.
Navan Grads Head Coach and General Manager Marty Abrams offered his congratulations to West on the commitment to Union College, “Today’s announcement is fantastic news for our program. Union College, under Head Coach Rick Bennett are getting a person in Ben West that is very dedicated to his craft and works hard every day to become a better goaltender. Since Ben joined our program last season, he has been nothing short of outstanding and we expect that trend to continue. The entire Grads family is proud of Ben’s commitment and look forward to being a part of his continued development moving forward.”
West joined the Grads in May of 2020, “It's an honour to be able to play Division 1 hockey at a great school like Union College. I would like to thank the entire Navan Grads organization for everything they've done for me and helping me earn this amazing opportunity. Union is a great school and I'm very excited for this opportunity; thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way."
