NAVAN, ON - The Navan Grads improved to 12-6-0-1 on the season with a 8-4 win over the Nepean Raiders on Friday night at Navan Memorial Centre.
The Grads stormed out of the gate in the first period with three goals. Forward Alec Lovisek opened the scoring at 3:03 on the power-play when Devyn Orpana set him up for a one-timer; Danyk Drouin had the other assist. The Grads made it 2-0 at 7:12 when defenseman Justin Louette found the back of the net for his first goal of the season; Lovisek and Blake Hall had the helpers. The Grads extended the lead to 3-0 at 16:41 when Nolan Forster finished off a beautiful drop pass in the slot from Gabriel Crete; defenseman Joseph Ianniello had the other assist.
The Grads continued to blitz the Raiders in the second period when Cayden Faust, Devyn Orpana and Gabrie Crete all scored in rapid succession to make it 6-0 for Navan. Forward Gabriel Crete added his 2nd of the period at 11:22 to make it 7-0 Grads, assisted by linemates Orpana and Forster. Nepean finally got on the board at 11:39 when veteran forward Jeff Taylor snuck one by goaltender Ben West to make it 7-1 after 40 minutes of action.
The Raiders fought back in the 3rd period by tallying goals by Lefebvre. Liverman and Iwachniuk. Captain Devyn Orpana buried his 2nd of the game in the final frame and the Navan Grads defeated the Nepean Raiders 8-4.
The Navan Grads are back in action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Carleton Place to faceoff against the Canadians. Puck drop is at 3:00PM
